Esther Bible Study

Friday, April 24, 2015

“The king loved Esther more than all the other women, and she obtained grace and favor in his sight more than all the virgins; so he set the royal crown upon her head and made her queen instead of Vashti.”
-      Esther 2:17

I am currently studying the book of Esther through a Beth More Bible Study: “Esther- It’s Tough Being a Woman.”
A particular lesson really stood out to me, and it is titled, “A Crown on Her Head.” This lesson narrows in on the day that Esther, a Jewish maiden, was crowned queen of Persia. What Beth Moore really points out on this day is why Esther was chosen as the queen.
Verse 17(above) says that Esther obtained grace and favor in the sight of the king-more than anyone else. So what does this mean? Why was she so special? Why did she obtain grace and favor? I was so curious, and the author answers my questions so perfectly.
Esther possessed qualities that every woman should aspire to have. Not only was she liked by the king, she was liked by the other women competing for the crown. This is crazy to me. I know I’m not the only one who has had some not so happy thoughts towards my competition. How in the world did someone manage win favor from everyone who saw her?
Esther was humble, kind, genuine, likable, and endearing. Here are each of these attributes broken down:
Humble- not proud or arrogant; modest
Kind- a good or benevolent nature or disposition; mild, gentle, considerate, helpful
Genuine- possessing the claimed or attributed character, quality, or origin; not counterfeit, authentic, real
Likable- readily or easily liked, pleasing
Endearing- tending to make dear or beloved; manifesting or evoking affections

I want to be like Esther. I want to possess these same qualities. I pray that God will shape me and mold me to be more like her.

On a side note ---> I would highly recommend this bible study! I have learned so much, and even though God is not mentioned one time within this chapter of the bible, you can undeniably feel and see His presence.

What's In My Tote Bag?
Can you believe it is almost April? This semester is flying by, and I am just a couple months away from student teaching! Yay! With that being said I feel like an effortless, organized tote bag is essential to staying on track. Here is a look at my current bag and its content:
1. (Above) Vera Bradley Vera Tote in Plum Crazy (#10096137)- I’ve carried this tote in different patterns my entire college career. I love it! It is a perfect size and sturdy for books, binders, and my computer.
2. (Above) Fossil Keyper Triple Coin Purse (Similar Here)- I got this set of bags a couple years ago around Christmas time, and I have used the largest one as a pencil pouch ever since. I take A LOT of school supplies to class with me, and this bag has worked for all my needs.

3. (Above)  Coach Umbrella- Sometimes I have to walk a good distance to class, so I keep my umbrella handy in case it rains.
